We gather at the beginning of the new year, at this time of “Epiphany,” to focus on Divine connection and manifestation.
Please join us for this healing circle to bless the epiphanies of new ideas, visions, and dreams which have been germinating inside of you. From “Aha” to “Aho” to “So hum,” we will open to the awakenings stirring within as we bathe in the healing sounds of bells & bowls, seedpods, shells & drums.

Facilitators:
Amy Thompson, MSW, weaves together a love of the natural world through her art and gardening. She is a juried member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists society and a Master Gardener. Amy holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and has combined her group work experience with her love of art as an Expressive Arts Facilitator.
A former English teacher and librarian, Eileen Mielenhausen, MA, has been teaching rhythms and leading drum circles and ceremonies since 1997. She has studied with numerous drummers, sound healers and shamans, including teachers from the Ivory Coast and Guinea, New York, Colorado, New Mexico, and Maine. Eileen sings with Women With Wings in Bangor and Blue Hill’s Misty Mountain Singers. In addition to sound healing programs, she also offers individual Reiki sessions.

8,000 Sacred Drums for the Spring Equinox

Every March, people worldwide join together to drum (in groups or as individuals) and to pray for healing our Mother Earth. The event is called “8,000 Sacred Drums” and is held every year around the time of the spring equinox. The purpose is to fulfill the 500-year-old Otomi Prophecy, which was written on a rock wall within a sacred cave in Mexico: “When 8,000 sacred drums play together, an intense healing of Mother Earth will commence.” The Otomi are Mayan Olmec and Toltec descendants. A huge group gathers in Mexico during the spring equinox on Mayan sacred grounds for this annual event.
Please join sound healing guide and shamanic practitioner Eileen Mielenhausen at a CommUnity Circle at The Gatherings in Surry on Sunday, March 18 to give voice to our joys and sorrows and to send out our healing intentions through the drum. Extra hand drums and percussion instruments will be available. All ages are welcome!! Dress warmly—we will gather inside for the CommUnity circle at 10:30 a.m. but later may walk outdoors to the bay, weather permitting.
Bring a song, poem, prayer, or story to share—and a drum if you have one. Please arrive prior to 10:30 am to get settled in before the ceremony begins. If you can’t make it at that time, offering a silent prayer or chant will connect you to the more than 8,000 sacred drums around the world and will give the effort more strength. Everyone is welcome to participate!

The afternoon will begin with a nourishing Yoga class lead by Nicole with LIVE music by Todd, followed by Pranayama, or breathwork. Then, Nicole will lead the participants in Yoga Nidra, a very relaxing and profound experience connecting us with our Inner Self. Todd will follow the Yoga Nidra with his amazing Gong Journey. We will complete the afternoon with a sharing circle to integrate our experience.
In our experience, this is an amazingly profound class that may offer answers to questions you may be carrying in your life. Your answers come from within, and this class guides you to that Inner place of deep Wisdom. In the very least, you will experience a very relaxing and nourishing class.
All props are provided, including mats. It is advised that you wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in, preferably in layers. Bring water in a covered container, and a favorite blanket. A scarf, or light material, can be used over your eyes during the Yoga Nidra and Gong Journey portion.
